Simple + Delish Egg Salad

Egg salad is a classic dish that combines the simplicity of eggs with a burst of flavors. Not only is it easy to make, but it also offers numerous health benefits. In this article, we'll explore the recipe for my favorite mouthwatering egg salad and delve into the nutritional advantages of incorporating eggs into your diet.

Recipe for Egg Salad:

Ingredients:

- 4 hard-boiled eggs

- 1/4 cup mayonnaise

- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

- 1/4 cup finely chopped celery

- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion

- 1/2 tbs- 1 tbs of capers (I measure with my heart).

- Salt and pepper to taste

- Optional: fresh herbs like parsley or dill for garnish.

Instructions:

1. Start by peeling the hard-boiled eggs and roughly chopping them.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped eggs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, celery, capers, and red onion.

3. Gently fold the ingredients together until well combined.

4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. If desired, garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or dill.

6. Serve the egg salad on a bed of lettuce, between slices of bread, or as a filling for wraps.

Here are Some of My Favorite Benefits of Eggs:

1. Excellent Source of Protein: Eggs are a complete protein source, meaning they contain all the essential amino acids our bodies need. Consuming protein-rich foods like eggs can aid in muscle repair and growth.

2. Nutrient Powerhouse: Eggs are packed with essential vitamins and minerals. They are particularly rich in vitamin B12, which supports brain function, and vitamin D, which promotes bone health. Choline is not a nutrient often mentioned when it comes to eggs but they are rich in choline which supports gall bladder health.

3. Heart-Healthy: Contrary to previous beliefs, research suggests that moderate egg consumption does not significantly impact heart health. In fact, eggs contain healthy fats and antioxidants that may contribute to a reduced risk of heart disease.

4. Eye Health: Eggs are a great source of lutein and zeaxanthin, two antioxidants that are beneficial for eye health. These compounds may help reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.

Egg salad is not only a delicious and versatile dish but also a nutritious addition to your diet. With its high protein content, essential vitamins and minerals, and potential health benefits, eggs are a valuable ingredient to incorporate into your meals.

So why not whip up a batch of egg salad today and enjoy its delightful taste while reaping the benefits of this incredible ingredient?
